Educational & Fun Gift Ideas for Children – PLUS A GIVEAWAY!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and we’re super excited to present our favourite educational gift ideas for children! We love buying gifts for George and Molly, so it’s always a joy to put together ideas to help other parents who might be struggling to think of something!
Let’s start of by sharing what George and Molly would love for Christmas, eh? George has asked for a telescope and a skateboard, as well as anything Titanic, Nerf or X-Box related! Molly is really keen to have a puppy, but we know that’s not possible this year. She’s also mentioned cuddly toys and anything written by Judy Blume!
They’re both lovely kids, and I always like to think of little ideas they haven’t necessarily asked for, but I know would be fun/useful/educational. So here’s our list of lovely ideas, all of which were given to us to include in this post!
1. Books
I’m a bookaholic, and I think that’s rubbed off on the kids! They love a good read, and this gorgeous Blue Planet book is the perfect gift for anyone, especially children! It’s packed full of interesting information, and the illustrations are beyond beautiful…
We also love this glorious selection of books; The Big Book of LGBTQ+ Activities, Rainbow Village, the Brave Girls Book Club and Discover Families!
We have also been reading Erin & Roderick Discover Families by Fliss Goldsmith and loving it! It challenges society’s view of what a ‘normal family’ looks like, and ends on a very sweet note about what family truly means!
‘Harry the Karate Monkey is the first book in a new seven-book series. All the books are designed with bedtime reading in mind – ideal for parents to read to their children with a storyline that adults will also appreciate. Each book is fully illustrated with eye-catching images created by illustrator Bill Greenhead’ – and we cannot wait to read it with George and Molly over the festive period! The Brave Girls Book Club is a fantastic resource, and you can sign up to their mailing list to keep up to date with news and so you can sign up to their subscription service! This is perfect for any young girl who wants to connect with literature and feel represented on the pages of a book!
2. Music
I’m absolutely in love with these Music Tin gift sets! George and Molly are both so musical, so this is the kind of gift they would both adore.
3. Puzzles
Kidicraft puzzles are so much fun, and their animal selection is great! We always get stuck into making jigsaws during the festive season, and beyond! These make great stocking fillers, and they are perfect for inquiring minds!
There’s also a fab new puzzle box, ‘The Box‘ (£30) which is perfect for cosy evenings together as a family. We had a little go of this and some of the puzzles are tough! It definitely gets the grey matter working!
4. Interesting Toys
Purchasing toys to spark the imagination of young minds sounds tricky, but it doesn’t need to be! These fab critters will inspire them and their curiosity for sure, and it could lead to designing and making their own creatures.

They have lots of styles to choose from, and the one George is wearing also helps save the orangutans, as £4 form each sale is donated to protect them and their forests. What a beautiful gift idea…
6. Crafts
Crafting is a great way to start the festive period, and we’re totally in love with our advent from I Do Handmade. Molly adored putting this together with myself and Zoey, and we had lots of fun too! We can’t wait to start opening them on the 1st December. They’re £16 plus p&p and they’re such a perfect gift idea for children (and the crafty adults!).
7. Science!
Everyone loves a bit of science, so why not go for this fab STEM Secret Science Kit with 8 top secret activities? I know George and Molly will have a LOT of fun with this!
