Romantic Date Night: Cosy Club, Cardiff Bay

Last night Zoey and I were invited to Cosy Club in Cardiff Bay, the perfect place for a romantic date night! The weather was glorious, and after a long day out and about with the children, it was a welcome treat to hop on the train to the Bay together for some scrummy food.
Romantic Date Night: Cosy Club, Cardiff Bay
I think it’s so important to have romantic times with your partner after having children. Too many people worry it’s selfish or struggle to get a babysitter, but if you do, going for a candlelit meal should be first on your list! Not only does it mean you get one-on-one time together, you also feel rejuvenated when you return to your children. This means you refuel your energy, have a glorious romantic date night, and come home feeling refreshed, energised and completely loved up!

Cosy Club has recently opened in Cardiff Bay, and I can honestly say it doesn’t disappoint. With views across the bay, stunning art deco interiors, and absolutely wonderful staff, it was a pleasure to attend this glorious eatery in the heart of Cardiff Bay.

We were welcomed with warmth and kindness, and the restaurant was a feast for the eyes! The use of classic paintings, beautiful lampshades and luxurious furnishings makes you feel completely spoilt and at home all at once.

We were seated and offered a menu (they have a vegan menu too!) and we had a long chat about their Vegan Fish and Chips, created by Annabelle Morgan from Cosy Club Hereford. In the end I went for this dish (because I haven’t had cod in over 2 years!) and Zoey picked the Half Roast lemon and Thyme Chicken. We also ordered a side of Ciabatta Garlic Bread, and whilst we waited we enjoyed some prosecco and the views of the Bay.
Katie (manager of Cosy Club Cardiff Central) was there to guide us through the menu and chat about the various options, and it was amazing to see her absolute passion for Cosy Club and her job; she had such a fab energy and made Zoey and I incredibly welcome.
The food arrived and I was so excited to find out they had vegan mayo (I love mayo with my ‘fish’ and chips!). The food looked too good to eat, and I was really nervous to try the tofu cod, because I’m not a big tofu lover at all…

Well, I can honestly say, it was probably the best vegan meal I’ve ever eaten out. The tofu was extraordinarily tasty, the seaweed wrap gave the perfect amount of fishy undertones, and the batter was delicious. The chips were chunky, the peas were full of flavour, and I demolished the whole thing! I honestly cannot rate this dish highly enough, and to know a member of Cosy Club staff designed it makes my heart sing!
Everything about the dish was simply gorgeous, and if you read my reviews on a regular basis, you’ll know I’m being completely honest! The ciabatta garlic bread was also delicious, and it was so awesome to have this vegan option too. I quite often have to go without garlic bread when eating out, so it was amazing to feel included.

Zoey’s dish was also very tasty, she did say the chicken was slightly overcooked, and she was offered a replacement (basically Cosy Club are awesome and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable), but she was fine with what she had and demolished it too! I am really not exaggerating how great Cosy Club staff are, as when we attended their Birmingham restaurant as paying customers, they replaced a wrong order for us immediately.

After we’d licked our plates clean (!) we were offered a dessert. We opted for the vegan Chocolate Orange Torte, and it was delightful! I loved the flapjack style base, and the flavours were just magical. A perfect way to finish off a perfect meal and romantic date night…

Ultimately, Cosy Club Cardiff Bay have pulled out all the stops. The views, the staff, the venue, the food and more – it’s all so perfect, and we kinda didn’t want to leave. It’s a joy to be there, to feel welcome there, without prejudice or judgement. It’s been a long time since we’ve felt that way, and I can’t wait to go back again.
