Last night Zoey and I headed to the beautiful Wales Millennium Centre to finally see Lovecraft (Not The Sex Shop In Cardiff). We have heard so many good things about this performance, so we couldn’t wait to get involved! Read on to find out how it went…

Review: Lovecraft (Not The Sex Shop In Cardiff)

The show began with upbeat tunes and Carys Eleri making her entrance onto the stage. She was a vibrant beam of energy, with a knack of making the audience feel right at home.

Her introduction focuses on her research of love and science, and we loved how she deconstructed and presented her findings so we could all completely understand what exactly creates the feeling of ‘love’.

The use of unforgettable tunes and funky beats mixed with clever lyrics and humour made the audience giggle, but at the same time relate to Carys and her experiences of love. We can all relate to feeling on a ‘high’, or ‘forgetting’ how badly someone has treated us, and we can also relate to those moments of loneliness.

Carys balances the dark side of loneliness with humour, and we both loved the Tit Montage! It had us in stitches as she moved across the stage, and as for her voice – what a voice! Carys is incredibly talented, and it was an honour to see her in her full glory (no she wasn’t naked!) last night.

We loved the humour, the music, the lyrics, but mostly the sentiment. She touches on the fact that people can still be lonely even when they’re surrounded by other people. She touches on the fact that ‘love’ doesn’t have to come from a sexual relationship, love can come from friends and family, surrounding yourself with those who lift you up is the key to feeling good!

If there was only one thing we could say about this performance, it’s that Carys Eleri is unforgettable. This performance will stay with us for a very long time.
