Bluestone: The Most Wonderful Way to Spend a Holiday

Last week we headed to the beautiful Bluestone for a family trip with friends. We adore Bluestone Wales, and feel absolutely honoured to be invited to visit for review, read on to hear how our week turned out…

We arrived on Monday afternoon, after a few stops at a few shops along the way. It’s good to get stocked up on food and drink ahead, so you can relax once you arrive and enjoy all the awesome facilities!

We always find the Monday night a chance to unpack, unwind and relax, ready for the days ahead. It was lovely to be able to test out their Tenby lodge with friends, and we found it easy to have alone time but also spend time as a large group. This accommodation is perfect for two families because the children can come and go between houses (as can the adults!).

On Tuesday we decided to check out the local beach at Saundersfoot. It’s such a beautiful beach and we found lots of interesting creatures, from jellyfish to crabs, the kids had so much fun! Luckily we were on holiday with a water loving family, so they had lots of fun in the sea with the kiddiebops, whist Zoey and I munched on chips hehe.

Saundersfoot wasn’t the friendliest of places though, and we did get a lot of stares and funny looks as we wandered around the streets. Nevertheless, we had lovely friends around us, and so much online support, allowing us to have a lovely time regardless of the judgement of strangers.

In the afternoon we had a little rest, followed by dinner, and then we headed to the Knight’s Tafern for spooky tales. It’s currently MyBwbach Festival at Bluestone, so there’s lots to see and do. The spooky talk was free, and we huddled around a table in the pub and listened to spooky tales! It was so interesting, and the adults loved the tales whilst the kids loved looking at all the interesting story prompt props within the treasure chest…

On Wednesday we headed to the pool first thing, and this was kind of a big deal. It was Zoey’s first time going to a public swimming pool, but it went really well. We didn’t have any trouble at all, and even though it was nerve-wracking for Zoey, she did it!

Later on we went to the Adventure Centre, a fantastic place full of play and fun. The kids went off to play and Zoey and I had a celebratory pint! We were all so proud of Zoey for facing the pool, and inspiring other people to be brave along the way.

We spent a few hours in the centre before heading back to the lodge for dinner. It was fab cooking in the lodge and spending time relaxing as a family, and we definitely appreciated the dishwasher!

On Thursday we went to Serendome, the new addition to Bluestone. It’s absolutely stunning and there’s so much to do there (all in another blog post – coming soon!). We had a wander and a play for a few hours before heading back for lunch. After this we went for a stroll at the lake, spotted some more scarecrows and then headed back to get changed and scrubbed up for dinner!

We chose the Oak Tree restaurant because of their outstanding food, and the staff were so warm and welcoming too! We all chowed down on pizza before joining in with Thursday’s family quiz! It was so much fun, with lots of laughter from the children and adults alike, and we managed a pretty good score of 19/30 on the quiz!

Our last night was fantastic and I could definitely feel the Bluestone love all around us.

We had the best week away, and the staff were all so kind to us, especially Zoey. It’s lovely to find a place that’s so LGBTQ+ family friendly, and we cannot wait to return!
