Life is Yours follows the story of Jess, a young woman whose life completely changes the day her relationship ends. This book is the first in a series, and we follow Jess’s self discovery journey (to a point) from the happy romantic days, through to the heartbroken moments in the wake of her break-up, right through to the awakening of her mind, body and soul.
Life is Yours is a really easy read, with lots of funny and sentimental stories that most people will be able to relate to. Jess reminds me of a younger version of myself, discovering who she is and what she stands for.
I loved the moments between Jess and her friends, how she describes her feelings towards her ex throughout, and I almost felt there was a sense of a younger Bridget Jones within the pages.
I really loved the self-help and self-discovery sections of the book, and I would love to see the full course Jess attends in a separate book written by Abi (PLEASE?!). These moments were inspiring, thoughtful and well written, and it left me with a sense of appreciation for my own life and decisions.
I have to admit, I wanted to know the next part of the story, so it was super exciting to discover 2 chapters from the next book at the end of Life is Yours! But I won’t give anything away…
Life is Yours will remind you of your past (or maybe present if you were born after me haha!) and it will offer support and suggestions for a life more fulfilled. No matter your situation, you will relate to an element of this book, and it will lift you up in ways you never imagined.
Now I’m going to wait patiently for the Personal Development book, because we all need it in our lives!
