Family Christmas Fun: Bryngarw Reindeer Trail & Parc Slip Nature Reserve
On Saturday we headed out for family Christmas fun! We headed to the lovely Bryngarw Reindeer Trail and Parc Slip Nature Reserve for a wintry adventure. Read on to find out how it went…
Family Christmas Fun: Bryngarw Reindeer Trail & Parc Slip Nature Reserve
Bryngarw is the most magical place, we adore visiting, and the Reindeer Trail did not disappoint. We arrived around 11am and the staff were super welcoming and friendly. You don’t need to pre-book this event, it runs from 11am till 3pm and it costs £3.50 per child.
George and Molly were handed their trail sheets and pencils, and off we went! Bryngarw is the most stunning place, with gorgeous forest grounds and gorgeous views. The Wooden Reindeer Trail is a beautiful trail that runs through the grounds. George and Molly followed the map, and at each reindeer they had to unscramble the letters to make a festive word!
Each reindeer has been made from wood, and they are all so incredibly stunning. I think it’s a fab way to get the family outdoors (come rain or shine!) and walk in the woods, as well as exploring the gorgeous grounds and beautifully made reindeer.
They were amazing at finding their way around and unscrambling the words, and before long they’d found all of them! We headed back to the start so George and Molly could write letters to Santa…

Soon it was time to check out Parc Slip Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve (super close to Bryngarw). We’ve never been there before, and it was absolutely stunning. Before we had a walk around, we decided to pop into the restaurant for a spot of lunch and a warm drink!
The staff were incredibly friendly (so much so we didn’t want to leave when we’d finished!) and they had lots of food options, including gluten free and vegan food. We ordered our food and each portion was pretty big! We left feeling very full and warm indeed…
Parc Slip Nature Reserve is a lovely place, and we had a little wander around. We met dog walkers along the way, and they too were super kind. There was so much to see as we wandered around, and it just felt good to be out in the fresh air as a family. It almost felt like Christmas Day!
Soon the day was over and it was time for us to leave. We had the best time, with so much fresh air and fun along the way. It was fab to feel welcomed by so many people, and to take part in so many lovely things.
We’d highly recommend spending a day out checking both these gorgeous places, they’re beautiful and full of so many things to discover. George and Molly had a great day, and so did we. It was the perfect family day together.
