Science Pirates Escape Room at Capitol Shopping Centre
On Friday I headed to Capitol Shopping Centre in Cardiff to meet with the Science Pirates and try out their escape room! George and Molly were super excited, and I have to admit, so was I. Read on to see how it went…
Science Pirates Escape Room
The Science Pirates are a wonderful bunch of folk, offering science in a fun and interesting way. They’d set up in the corner of Capitol, with skeletons and other interesting things to draw us in…
We were greeted with warm smiles and a really clear description of how the escape room would work. George took charge of the tablet, Molly asked to be scribe, and I helped a little and snapped some pictures!
The task was simple:
- Find the QR codes
- Scan them
- Watch the videos
- Find the word and write it on the paper
- Use the highlighted letters to create a word to unlock the treasure!
George and Molly set to work whilst I snapped pics. It was so much fun watching them search for the codes and scan them in. I think part of the task was to take in what was being said on the videos, but we were way too excited and didn’t really concentrate on that part, but it would be good for older children and adults!

The staff were really helpful too, giving us sneaky hints along the way. George and Molly managed to escape in 7 minutes and 11 seconds, and they were so excited!

Capitol offer so many wonderful events, during the holidays and other times during the year. You can sign up to their newsletter here, so you can keep track of future events.
You can also give your honest feedback over at their We’re All Ears Survey. It doesn’t take long and they really appreciate your thoughts! They have lots of exciting things coming up in the future, so keep an eye out!
