Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland 2019
AD/Invite
Last night we were invited to a preview of Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland 2019! It always marks the start of the festive season, so we were super excited to attend!
Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland 2019
We arrived at the entrance to Cardiff Winter Wonderland with a sense of huge excitement and anticipation. The festive lights, the scent of street food, and the sight of the Big Wheel gave us all a spring in our step as we entered the site.
We were impressed with the size of the site this year, it’s much bigger and brighter than before. It just feels as though it’s reached a new level in terms of design, layout and features.
Our first stop was food! We had a little nose around and settled on Bratwurst for Zoey, Falafel Burger for Kelly, Beef Burger for George and a gorgeous Apple Pie Crepe for Molly. I think it would be great if there was a bit more in terms of vegan options, but it’s still great to have an option other than chips, right?!
The food was wolfed down as we sat inside Sur La Piste, which screams Christmas! Full to the brim with gorgeous textiles, heaters and comfy seating, we felt so festive and super relaxed. Outside we could hear the entertainment, but not at the cost of feeling cold and uncomfortable. This area is possibly the cosiest place we’ve relaxed in for quite a while…
Once our bellies were full it was time for skating! George and Molly couldn’t wait. I am useless at skating, so opted to photograph them. The staff were all super helpful, letting me know I’d need to go to a different area to meet them once they’d had a skate. They had a lot of fun on the ice, and they loved the Alpine Ice Trail!

Soon it was time to check out the rides! We had a lovely time on the Big Wheel, the staff were really friendly and helpful and it was so magical watching the world move below us as we reached for the stars…
George and Molly also enjoyed some of the smaller rides, perfect for little ones and big kids (like me!). We had family fun on the Fun House, and before we knew it, the night was over.
We were there for 3 hours, and it completely flew by! I would definitely schedule a full day out to make sure you hit every spot of Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland 2019…
It was the most festive fun we’ve had in ages, and a perfect way to spend a day celebrating the gorgeous Christmas season. Ir’s open from 8th November until 5th January, so plenty of time to check out the festive fun!
