O Christmas Tree & Winter Lights at Dyffryn Gardens

We recently headed to Dyffryn Gardens to check out O Christmas Tree and Winter Lights ahead of the festive season. Christmas is such a busy time, it’s so lovely to be able to escape the madness and do something out in the fresh air as a family. Read on to see how it went…

O Christmas Tree & Winter Lights at Dyffryn Gardens

We absolutely love attending Dyffryn Gardens, it’s the most magical place, full of history and adventure. Last time we went to Dyffryn, it was a lot sunnier, but it was amazing to pop on our wellies and explore this lovely place during the winter months.

We were greeted by the lovely staff in such a warm manner, and this didn’t stop as we made our way around the site. Big thank you to the lady in the coffee shop, who treated us all so sweetly. It always makes a difference to an experience, I think, to be welcomed warmly by staff.

Our first task was to navigate the O Christmas Tree Trail. This was a fantastic tree treasure hunt, and we loved seeing all the different kinds of trees as we used the map to find the trees dotted around the grounds. During this time we also made homemade tea bags to put on our Christmas tree, and we absolutely loved this activity!

After this we headed inside for tea and cake. I have no photos because we wolfed the food down, haha! Darkness came as we huddled around our table, and once we’d warmed up, we headed out to check out the Winter Lights. This is such a lovely way to celebrate Christmas, and there was so much to see! My favourite area had to be the disco ball, it was so funky and cool, definitely my kind of Christmas decoration!

Here are some of the lights we found on our way around:

Dyffryn is such a wonderful place to explore at any time of the year, but their Christmas activities definitely have a festive warmth to them. We often thought how wonderful it would have been to spend more time there, maybe nestled in a hammock beneath the stars and lights. O Christmas Tree runs between 10am-4pm, and the Festive Lights run from 4-7pm. They’re both running until 5th January, so plenty of time to head on over and take part. You do not need to pay extra on top of entry fees to take part, so what’s stopping you?!

Get festive and get down to Dyffryn to check out all these fab events, you won’t regret it!
